A photographer and a journalist prabhat singh heads editorial team at aligarh edition of dainik jagran, a leading hindi daily with multieditions. it was after leaving amar ujala where he worked for about 21 years in various capacities and headed its allahabad edition for more than four years. he joined amar ujala in 1985 with ambition to prove his photographic skills but finally landed up in editorial department. here he started his career as a reporter and his professional approach to journalism took him to the post where he leads a team of good professionals. years passed but not his passion for photography. The motivation to his major journalistic assignments has been largely influenced by the opportunity to keep camera on his shoulder.

In 1991, he was selected as a member of group study exchange programme of rotary international and toured kansas (usa). during this tour he studied sculptures of henry moore in nelson atkins museum and a photo exhibition `moore & my vision' based on this study held at bareilly. later it was mounted at allahabad also. another study based photo exhibition was `tharus in transition' and was mounted at nirala art gallery, allahabad and lalit kala academy, lucknow. this photo study is about changes in traditions and culture of tharus, a tribe in foothills of india and nepal. Another photo exhibition `kumbh-2001' was organised by amar ujala at nirala art gallery, allahabad and abc art gallery, varanasi. same exhibition was mounted at art gallery of wzcc at bagore ki haveli, udaipur. `confluence’ was his another exhibition with noted artist sanjay kumar, at habiart gallery, india habitat center, new delhi. in the same gallery he mounted his photographs in a group show with four eminent painters.

Museum of ethnography at g.b.pant institute of social science, allahabad has a seperate section of his photographs of tharus. institute has also published a monograph on tharus, ` changing life of tharus'. few pictures are also included in permanent collection of mahakumbh at museum. his photographs are also used for book jacket by various publications. he has been guest faculty, deptt. of journalism and mass communication, university of allahabad and also holds regular workshops for amateurs to initiate understanding and appreciation for art in photography.

He writes on media related issues and two compilation of his writings in hindi has been published. currently he is working on a photo book project focusing on `kumbh’.
